Overview

Celeste and Jesse met in high school and got married young. They laugh at the same jokes and finish each other’s sentences. They are forever linked in their friends’ minds as the perfect couple – she, a high-powered businesswoman and budding novelist; he, a free spirit who keeps things from getting boring. Their only problem is that they have decided to get divorced. Can their perfect relationship withstand this minor setback?

I was a bit apprehensive to watch this, and I was right.

It is quite good. Plenty of laughs, some real heart and good performances, but it hits close to home. No, I’m not friends with an ex-wife… nor have I ever been married. But the film does dredge up some memories and realities concerning my last relationship that I try (unsuccessfully) not to think about.

This speaks highly of the film, yet a bit frustrating. Still, I really enjoyed the tale.
