Viewing Notes

This film, I love.

I have been watching CREEPSHOW for as long as I remember. It was released when I was only two, after all. I own, and have read, the comic book. The original one-sheet that my dad once owned has adorned walls in multiple houses, including my childhood bedroom.

After all of that love, this was the first time I’ve ever had the chance to see he film on the big screen in 35mm. Never have the bright colors popped so much. Never have I seen zombies clamoring for cake so largely.

One thing that changed was my opinion on the cockroaches. I’ve never really liked the “They’re Creeping Up On You” story that ends the film. It’s always been ok, but not nearly on the level of burying Ted Danson or the great Fluffy. However, this has all changed. I don’t love those others any less, but I have a newfound respect for the bugs. Seeing it on projected so largely I felt the things crawling all over me! I feel the same pain that many others in the theater did with their audible shudders.

So happy.
