Love to see this doc about one of the greatest zombie films of all time, RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD. Longer than the film it discusses, this has plenty of great interviews, footage, behind-the-scenes action, and inside scoop to keep the die hard fans salivating. At first I was sad that they only discussed the first film, but luckily there are bonus features that cover parts 2 and 3.
No mention of 4 or 5 - but that’s ok in my book.
One thing I really wish they would’ve spent more time on was the soundtrack. Music plays a big part in this movie, but it feels like they just barely touch on it. They got Stacy Q from SSQ but where was Dinah Cancer from 45 Grave?! “Partytime” is such a big moment in the film - twice ! - and no one even so much as mentions it. They also could have touched on the original theatrical/VHS release music versus the DVD/Blu releases.
Sigh.
