Zen-like, meditative, quiet, such a beautiful film with an emotional wallop at the end. Wim Wenders has often commented that Ozu is a huge influence for him, and it shows in this film.
Koji Yakusho is so good while barely speaking a word. And, on a side note, the public toilets in Tokyo are works of art!
