This is a documentary/fiction hybrid with the two leads playing themselves. It’s an earnest, well-intentioned film, but unfortunately, I had a kind of meh reaction.
Something was missing dramatically. Maybe it was the non-professional actors. There’s a noticeable difference between Scoot McNairy and Jennifer Ehle and the rest of the cast.
There are still things to like: a way of life not usually seen, and some nice cinematography of the South Dakota Badlands.
