Overview
Washed-up revolutionary Bob exists in a state of stoned paranoia, surviving off-grid with his spirited, self-reliant daughter, Willa. When his evil nemesis resurfaces after 16 years and she goes missing, the former radical scrambles to find her, father and daughter both battling the consequences of his past.

Viewing Notes
This might be the best film I’ve seen all year. I was riveted from start to finish.
Funny and disturbing. I’m laughing through the whole thing about the absurdity of it all, and at the same time, disturbed by how close to the truth it is. A strong commentary on where we are as a country now: violence, racism, paranoia, the deep state, detention centers, the militarization of law enforcement, etc.
For a 2 1/2 hour film, PTA’s pacing is extraordinary, especially during the raid of the small town. This movie just flew by. The roller coaster-like car chase at the end is visually spectacular.
The performances are uniformly great: DiCaprio, Penn, Del Toro, etc. I loved the camerawork and the use of music.
