KIrks assists Spock in a training mission for Starfleet cadets. The novice crew is put to the test when they must confront the escaped villain Khan. This is one of my favorite Star Trek films. It touches on so many things and while it’s a revenge story first and foremost, it’s also about dealing with growing old, facing your demons, and the loss of friends and family. It’s epic space opera at its finest. The effects are ILM at some of its best pre-cg, the acting and script are fantastic, and James Horner’s driving score fits the film so well. And yes I’m re-watching the Original Series crew films because Nimoy passed away. These and the original series tv show were such a big part of my life growing up, his passing hit me pretty hard, so I’m hitting them up again in a kind of tribute I guess. I do actually own the film on DVD but Netflix was just more convenient.
