A ship-wrecked man floats ashore on an island in the Pacific Ocean. The island is inhabited by a scientist, Dr. Moreau, who in an experiment has turned beasts into human beings. My only other experience with The Island of Dr. Moreau was with the 1996 film whihc had some interesting ideas, but wasn’t all that great even though the make-up effects were amazing. The make-up effects here aren’t nearly up to the ‘96 version, but the actors more than make up for it. If I feel a need to revisit the Island again it’ll probably be this version I go to first.
