Steven Spielberg meshes some of his best efforts in horror and sci-fi filmmaking over the years and throws all those elements together into this film and it’s fantastic. While not quite as in depth as the book, most of the major elements get touched on and it’s a fun ride all the way through. The less is more approach works really well with some great actors and characters to go along with the effects work. I saw this so many times in the theater and wore out two VHS tapes over the years. One of my all time favorites.
