When a virus leaks from a top-secret facility, turning all resident researchers into ravenous zombies and their lab animals into mutated hounds from hell, the government sends in an elite military task force to contain the outbreak. Serving as both a prequel to the first game, if you set it at the right time, and as the launching point for the ongoing film series, Resident Evil filled two shoes and did them pretty well considering the game itself was meant to be a send off of b-movie horror films in the first place. The script is at least decent, the action is great and we get some aging but ok cg effects of the critters from the games. While a few of the other films in this series haven’t held up nearly as well, this one is still a lot of fun and very watchable.
