Allies of the Shadows seek revenge against humanity. This movie sets up the ill-fated series, “Crusade,” the sequel to “Babylon 5.” This has not aged well at all. I remember watching this with excitement when it aired and being quite ready to get into a follow-up show to Babylon 5. TNT had other plans. The film is a bit slow but it moves at a Babylon 5 pace meaning it’s all about characters and story here. Unfortunately, while it’s mostly an enclosed one, it heavily sets up the TV show Crusade which only got in about half a season before creative differences between TNT and JMS killed it. While it’s great seeing another film with Sheridan this one meets with middling results. The effects work doesn’t look all that good anymore, at least not on the DVD I watched it off of, even though I do love the design work of the ships. The music I usually loved in Bab 5 and most of Crusade isn’t nearly as good here either
