The Borg, a relentless race of cyborgs, are on a direct course for Earth. Violating orders to stay away from the battle, Captain Picard and the crew of the newly-commissioned USS Enterprise E pursue the Borg back in time to prevent the invaders from changing Federation history and assimilating the galaxy. After the kind of ho hum Generations with the Next Gen cast getting their first outing on the big screen, they come back with an excellent script that knocks it out of the park. Where Kirk and crew went with one of their bigger villains for their second outing, the Next Gen crew does the same with the Borg. The effects are great, we get all the right character moments touching on many of the great elements from the show, and I have to admit I saw this something like eight times in the theater when it first came out. It still very much holds up almost twenty years later and is the best of the Next Gen films.
