Viewing Notes

17 year-old Ree Dolly sets out to track down her father, who put their house up for his bail bond and then disappeared. If she fails, Ree and her family will be turned out into the Ozark woods. Challenging her outlaw kin’s code of silence and risking her life, Ree hacks through the lies, evasions and threats offered up by her relatives and begins to piece together the truth. I went into this blind for the most part. My wife picked it as a DVD rental probably because of Jennifer Lawrence who is absolutely phenomenal in this. My only complaint is how absolutely depressing most of this film is. I’m not in the right mindset for that right now right after my wife’s emergency surgery so it lost half a point for that. Other than that it’s really well done.
