Viewing Notes

The Resident Evil movies aren’t going to win any awards but I like them. To me, it’s like watching a video game and Afterlife is especially very game-like. You go from big action scenes to what are essentially cutscenes to help convey the story.

A big part of the middle of this movie feels like Dawn of the Dead, with the survivors holed up in a prison, surrounded by the undead, trying to find a way out.

The 3D was actually pretty decent and like Piranha 3D, they go over the top in it’s use, throwing things at the viewer to try and make the best use of it. Is it neccessary? No. Does it really add anything to the movie? Fuck no. But was it fun? Sure. It’s no Step Up 3D, though!

Still I liked this movie. I may not be the best of the series but I’m glad I watched it and I enjoy watching Alice take down Umbrella again and again and having it pop back up like the virus it unleashed.
