Megamind was one of the new animated features I missed in 2010 and I have to admit I’m kind of bummed about that. It was actually very funny and Ferrell, who I do find funny, I think is better when understated. Look at the cast, and really, you have to know this will at least give you some laughs and for me, it gave me a lot. You have Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Jonah Hill, David Cross, Ben Stiller, and Brad Pitt.
I enjoyed the tale of an underdog, who only by his own misunderstanding of his place in the world, had made himself a villain, finding his way and becoming a hero.
The animation is good, not mind blowing, but projects the feelings of the characters and wacky comedy just fine.
In a year of great animated comedies, Megamind doesn’t disappoint, nor does it stand out, but its worth a watch and delivers the laughs.
