Viewing Notes

The Hot Rock was watched by Soderberg several times before making Ocean’s Eleven and you can really see the influence. An outstanding heist flick where the mains are somewhat bumbling and having to re-steal the diamond they’re after because it keeps getting lost in either mix-ups or by being backstabbed by people they’re working with.

Redford works hilariously with George Segal and while the movie is funny, the heists are actually quite clever and a blast to watch for fans of that sort of thing. There’s also a fantastic helicopter scene with some amazing aerial shots of New York.

If you’re a fan of heist flicks and you’ve never seen this, you need to. Immediately.
