I was almost on board with this flick. The goofy premise (sharks-in-a-lake!) has the potential of b-movie greatness. However, all potential went out the window with the PG-13 rating.
SHARK NIGHT should have been R-rated mayhem full of gore an nudity. Taking the bit out of the film removes all of the potential fun and we’re left with a generic, toothless horror flick.
Also, couldn’t the filmmakers have thrown a little more money at the special effects? These sharks look horrible. Worse that PIRANHA 3D’s beasties.
Basically, what PIRANHA 3D got right in the mayhem department, SHARK NIGHT totally gets wrong. It’s the equivalent of being gummed to death.
