I knew this wasn’t going to be a good movie, and I’d have been ok with that since everyone involved seemed to be in on the tongue-in-cheek joke.
Sadly, it just plays as bland and tired. I described it on Twitter as “Tucker and Dale without the comedy” by which I mean it seemed to either want to be a parody of creature/slashers from the ‘80s, or an homage to the same genre. Unfortunately, it fell flat in between the two, the PG-13 rating keeping it from attaining a true homage style.
The best parts were the leaping sharks and the after-credits rap song, which was brilliant.
