Most brilliant opening scene in a movie. Ever.
That’s the biggest thing I take away from the original SCREAM. I love this movie and revisiting it on Blu Ray was a lot of fun. Some thinks hold up (opening scene, horror movie commentary) and some things don’t (Matthew Lillard’s tongue). A sharp script and decent directing really helped SCREAM stand above all other horror flicks coming out in the 90s. It helped revitalize the whole Teen Slasher genre (but most were pale duplications).
SCREAM opens strong and kind of whimpers to an end, but as a whole, still a lot of fun.
