Viewing Notes

I never thought this would be the “ultimate” MAN movie.  From the start, I figured it would be a movie fit for the “budget bin” at Walmart.  I mean, all Stallone wanted to do was to bring all these meatheads together to do a 80s style actioner.

From that standpoint, The Expendables succeeds.  It is no more than a nonsensical, dumb action movie that came to the theaters a 2 decades too late. And, with that caveat in place, I enjoyed the hell out of this movie.

Yes, it’s dumb.  Yes, the plot really makes no sense. Yes, I have no Idea what Mickey Rourke is doing in this movie. Yes, I think the humor is insanely idiotic. But, that’s what I love about this movie.

The Expendables is no Rambo or Rocky Balboa, but it is a fun, action filled romp and makes me look forward to more Stallone directed movies.

Side note: if you get the DVD or Blu Ray, watch Inferno: The Making of The Expendables.  It’s one of the best “Making Of” documentaries I’ve ever seen.
