Long overdue revisit that checks the boxes for two current projects: Jet Li and Bruno! Forgot that Willis was in this one (thought he and Schwarzenegger showed in the second film) but he’s fun in those 5 minutes here. For some reason I was under the impression that I wasn’t super crazy about this when I saw in theater which is probably why I haven’t revisited until now. I was wrong; I dug it then and this movie is a blast. So many faces to chew scenery and blow things up.
Jet Li is so good and I wish he had gotten more screentime. Love that he’s top billed after Stallone and Statham but he really should’ve gone with them on the first visit to the island. The scene between Li and Stallone is really nice just wish we got more of that.
I don’t like how the close action is filmed or edited but I like Stahelski‘s action direction (Corey Yuen did Li’s choreo). This is such a throwback to old Cannon flicks with lots of explosions so of course I love it.
