I ask this every time I see a Scott Adkins movie. Why the hell isn’t he a full on action star? Instead we get countless Jason Statham movies.
Ninja is the better ninja movie of 2010. If Ninja Assassin had dialed things back a notch, it would be a toss up. Ninja is a “straight to video” low budget ninja flick that knows just what it is. It feels just like a 90s action flick and doesn’t aspire to be more than a fun action flick with ninjas. I’m OK with that.
It’s a generic movie elevated by the action sequences and Scott Adkins’ performance and martial arts skill. The dude can move and beat in a guys’ face.
I actually watched Ninja and Ninja Assassin in the same evening. Ninja came out to be the winner because it wasn’t trying as hard as Ninja Assassin was. It’s just a solid action flick with some great fight sequences involving ass kickin’ Ninjas!
