Viewing Notes
Von Trotta, in the role of Sophie de Reval, feels much too old for the part she plays, which serves to lessen the impact of the unrequited love she has for the obviously younger (though not intended to be) soldier, von Lhomond.
Beautifully shot in atmospheric black and white though. Gorgeous to look at even if it feels a little dead.
