Viewing Notes

Cox’s anachronistic historical drama as current political commentary. A great movie, absurdest at times, humorous at others, but ultimately an indictment of America’s century-long involvement in Central America and Nicaragua with specific commentary on the then-current Iran/Contra affair under President Reagan.

At times it feels a bit like Apocalypse Now, which I suppose is appropriate since that movie is based on Hearts of Darkness which is set in South America.
