I was anticipating this movie since it was announced and am happy to say it lived up to my expectations and then some.
I was tense from the opening audio montage through the very last scene; so much so that after the movie I had to walk around the parking lot and shake my muscles out. There’s a lot of content in this movie that disturbed and angered me, from the haunting 911 calls from the Twin Towers in the opening scene to the water boarding torture scenes that immediately follow it.
Jessica Chastain is a real standout here. She does an amazing job with her role. I thought she was excellent, and seriously under-appreciated, in Take Shelter, so it’s nice to see her really break out into a serious leading actress with this film.
