Overview
Guillermo del Toro presents Mama, a supernatural thriller that tells the haunting tale of two little girls who disappeared into the woods the day that their parents were killed. When they are rescued years later and begin a new life, they find that someone or something still wants to come tuck them in at night.

Viewing Notes
An interesting premise and some genuinely creepy moments in the first half of the film are ruined by a terrible CG creature and lack of depth in the second half. Seeing a human in inhumanly disjointed poses is terrifying; seeing a CG creature in disjointed poses is merely pedestrian.
Jessica Chastain does a decent job, and her character probably has the most depth aside from the children, but even she can’t keep this movie from being anything other than an off-mark effort.
