Viewing Notes

“How could a man ever get so low?” “He reached too high.”

Nightmare Alley charts the rise and fall of a carny who scams his way in and out of people’s lives on his way to the top of the mentalist game before plunging right back down into the gutter.

Anchored by a really strong performance by Tyrone Power in the lead as well as strong supporting roles from a trio of actresses as his various love interests.

Portions of the film are set in Chicago, though it’s hard to know if much filming was done on location except for a few exterior scenes.
