Started this the night before but fell asleep a third of the way through. Not the movie’s fault, just a long, tiring week.
Despite its sometimes over the top goofiness (or maybe because of it) I really enjoyed this John Woo film. All of Woo’s trademarks are here including slow motion action, multiple takes of the same dramatic action scene, two handed pistol battles, and birds, so many birds.
Van Damme with a mullet is a little weird, as was the terrifying scene of Wilford Brimley riding a horse. Brimley’s cajun accent is also pretty humorous.
