Overview

In 1932, a cop is killed and Frank Wiecek sentenced to life. Eleven years later, a newspaper ad by Frank’s mother leads Chicago reporter P.J. O’Neal to look into the case. For some time, O’Neal continues to believe Frank guilty. But when he starts to change his mind, he meets increased resistance from authorities unwilling to be proved wrong.

Viewing Notes

Not everything I was hoping for, but still a solid noir with the always great James Stewart. Filmed in and around Chicago and Illinois, it was great to see a lot of recognizable Chicago landmarks, along with a lot of stuff that just isn’t there anymore.

Watching the raising drawbridges over the river taking place in a window behind the characters as they talk during a scene was especially cool.
