It was fun revisiting this. All I remember from watching this as a teenager was “full frontal nudity!” It’s such an odd, anachronistic movie, out of sorts with the time it was made. It feels like a cross between The Quatermass Incident and Jerry Anderson’s live action UFO show.
I really liked the alien ship scenes at the beginning of the film but that entire section was way too rushed. It would have benefited from longer, more ominous takes as the astronauts made their way into the ship. It certainly would have given it a more sinister tone.
I would love to get the new Blu-ray of this. The DVD version Netflix has just doesn’t do it justice.
