After his brother Robeson disappears without a trace while exploring Africa in search of a legendary ‘white tribe’, Allan Quatermain decides to follow in his footsteps to learn what became of him. Not as good as the first, and certainly there are some cheap SFX here, but c’mon it’s the ‘80s! I still enjoyed this movie quite a bit, especially James Earl Jones who is both hilarious and awesome at the same time. On the other hand, Henry Silva is horribly miscast as the main bad guy.
As much as King Solomon’s Mines mimicked Raiders of the Lost Ark, so too does this one ape Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
