Since Jay had never been to the Mayan before we decided to go see this in Denver (rather than at CU Boulder where it was also playing) even though he saw it at Stanley Film Festival and brought the whole family with.
From pretty much the opening scene this movie is great, hitting the deadpan humor perfectly. It sends up so many different versions of the vampire, from Nosferatu to Anne Rice’s Lestat, and drops little references to other vampire movies like the Lost Boys and the Twilight trilogy.
After the movie we headed over to The Walnut Pizzeria for a beer and pizza before heading back home. All in all a pretty fun evening in Denver.
