I liked this even more the second time around. The movie really hinges on Damici’s performance as Ambrose, the blind vet. Ambrose is so caustic and humorous, it really carries the movie. I also love Tom Noonan’s understated performance as the priest.
The practical creature FX, including the transformation scenes, are great too. You don’t get to see much practical work like that these days and it’s a treat. I also watched the Creature FX special feature which showed all of the work that went into making the various stages of the transformations, and the end creatures. It’s amazing how much effort goes into it.
