Viewing Notes

Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood to see it but I felt pretty meh about this one. It was ok but I didn’t feel like it broke any new ground. The whole “man meddling with nature” theme and “kids in need of rescue” thing felt tired. It also irritated me that Bryce Dallas Howard’s character runs off to rescue the two kids rather than dealing with the emergency she was responsible, at least in part, for. Basically she puts tons of other people at risk and there are never any consequences for it since she comes to realize the folly of her all-business approach and reconnects with her family and her man-toy. Because she’s had this epiphany, all else is forgiven. Must be nice there in movie land.

Like I said, I don’t think I was in the proper mood.
