Viewing Notes

A strange movie but not without some interesting stuff going on. I especially liked the human-faced dogs and the scene where Freddy emerges from the kid.

What was really interesting was all the of gay subtext going on. Everything from the depantsing episode to the multiple male shower scenes, the S&M club and bondage gym teacher death scene, and the male sleepover deal. When you add all of that up, you can really start to view the movie as Freddy representing Mark’s homosexual fantasies/nightmares and his “girlfriend” trying to save him from himself by focusing on their straight relationship (“I know you’re in there!”, “I love you!”).

Odd that I never saw this before, but then again, I had a habit of not seeing very many horror sequels when I was a teenager and NOES was never a movie that I connected much with back in the day.
