An over-the-top, violent romp through the wrong side of family life and youth culture in Japan. Because the protagonist is almost as vile as everyone else, and certainly as much to blame for the outcomes, as a viewer you take a further step back from the film and watch a bit more dispassionately.
That, coupled with the increasing descent into more and more ludicrousness, kept me from enjoying it as much as I wanted to. But still a fun, disturbing watch. Might make an interesting double feature coupled with Springbreakers.
My sixth film of Denver Film Fest.
