Viewing Notes

This one feels a bit rushed but I also found it more interesting to watch this time around. There are clues to what’s going to happen along the way that I missed when I first watched this, partly because I hadn’t read the books yet.

This movie is also more about Harry Potter than any other character where the previous movies focused more on the ensemble. Because of the friendship squabbles and the not-quite-in-the-open love interests, Harry is mostly left on his own.

Goblet also gets really dark and serious by the end. I especially like Hermione’s line about “everything’s changed now” as a precursor to the tone of the following films as much as about what their characters are about to go through. It’s almost like a heads-up for the audience to expect a darker tone from here on in.
