Still not my favorite Argento (always and forever SUSPIRIA) but I definitely appreciated it more after this viewing. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this and I’d have to say it’s probably his most coherent film in terms of plot. Definitely derivative of FRIDAY THE 13TH but it has its own style and uniqueness.
Jennifer Connelly is great, as is Donald Pleasence, but the chimpanzee steals the show in all of its scenes. As usual there are some odd editing and music choices but those serve to make the movie stand out from the crowd of horror films that started to flood the market in the direct-to-video era.
This might be the only Argento film I can recall without any nudity as well.
