Great movie, terrible print. I pre-ordered the Shout Select remaster but it’s not due to be released until May and I wanted to watch this again for my Hong Kong Cinema class. So I opted to stream it on Netflix.
The print isn’t the worst but it is pretty crappy, out of focus and dirty and not in the right aspect ratio. It’s also dubbed, which is terrible. This is how a lot of Americans saw these movies growing up, so it’s a familiar experience, but after watching remastered Blus of THE BIG BOSS and FISTS OF FURY, the experience is jarring to say the least.
None of that takes away from the great finale between Lee and Norris which is why this movie is so great. I can’t wait to watch the remastered version when it comes out.
