Viewing Notes

Took the whole family to see this for Mothers Day, mainly because Gavin really wanted to see it. Surprisingly Ewan liked it more than anyone else. It’s a big mess of a movie, relying heavily on special FX to cover up the crazy.

I really wish they’d spent more time on the battles, especially the opening and final battles. Those both should have been batshit-crazy, drawn out spectacles of swordplay and special FX. I was hoping for more giant battle elephants at the very least. I also wish they’d have spent more time on Arthur’s journey through the Dark Lands, which was a disjointed could-have-been that contributed little to the forward motion of the film. Instead we just got peeks at some pretty cool monsterish things like large rats, giant bats and a huge snake. I wanted a LOT more of that!

It was great to see Neil Maskell show up in a fairly prominent role. Haven’t really seen him much since KILL LIST.
