Wow, a really amazing movie! One of those films you know about and think you’ve seen but haven’t, at least in my case. Very experimental for Hitchcock; his first color film (in 1948!) and consisting of a small series of long takes, it’s pretty mesmerizing. Stewart’s character is an odd fit for him but he pulls it off brilliantly.
I was also surprised to see Hume Cronyn adapted the story.
