Neo noirs from the 1970s are great. The cynicism of the time fits well with the genre and the color and texture of the film stock lends a gritty, filmic quality that was largely gone by the very early eighties.
Such a great cast in this too. This is the first producing credit for Jerry Bruckheimer and features Joe Spinell of MANIAC, Sylvester Stallone before he broke out, Harry Dean Stanton as a cop on the take, AND features a cameo by my favorite hard boiled author, Jim Thompson!
