Viewing Notes

I remember so little about this that I’m not entirely sure I’ve ever watched the whole thing! Weird that the actual mummy is nearly non-existent in this first film. Still, Karloff looks great, and very convincing, as the mummy for the brief amount of time he’s shown in costume. Zita Johann is exotically beautiful in this and you can tell this is pre-code just by the dress and nightgown she wears compared to what women wear and how they act in later MUMMY movies in the ‘40s.
