Viewing Notes

A lesser noir by Preminger with healthy doses of misogyny to go around. I know it was 1949 but even for that time period, and even for noir, it felt a little forced.

Great score but kinda ho-hum other than that, even with the hypnotism angle. I wonder if hypnotism felt more exotic then? Ferrer is great as the bad guy and I really liked the surgery-related twist. Tierney is also quite good, and gorgeous as ever.

The title has nothing to do with the film at all. I’d have called it MURDER UNKNOWN.
