Viewing Notes

I had just finished listening to the episodes of “You Must Remember This” podcast focused on Lugosi and Karloff, so it was the right time to revisit this. There are things in the movie that make more sense now that I know some of the history and back story. And of course, it’s easy to see what was altered or left out as well (Lugosi’s wife leaving him, his transfer to the state mental hospital, Wood’s end as an indigent and alcoholic to name a few).

Still, it makes for a mostly honest tribute to both Wood and Lugosi and is one of Burton’s more likeable films.
