Whilst vacationing in the Carpathian Mountain, two couples stumble across the remains of Count Dracula’s castle. The Count’s trusted servant kills one of the men, suspending the body over the Count’s ashes so that the blood drips from the corpse and saturates the blackened remains. The ritual is completed, the Count revived and his attentions focus on the dead man’s wife who is to become his partner; devoted to an existence of depravity and evil.

Probably the Hammer Dracula film I’ve seen the most over the years. This is the new Shout Factory 4K restoration and I wasn’t entirely pleased with it. While it did a great job of restoring the original grain, the colors felt a bit off and the audio enhanced the low end of the spectrum, giving too much weight to things like footsteps, etc. that should have been background noises.
Despite that, it was great to see a high quality print of this and it was fun to watch the sequel right after watching HORROR OF DRACULA. They actually go pretty well together when watched back-to-back.
