Viewing Notes

Amazing cinematography and massive action scenes made this a stunning watch! I think I’ll have to pick up the Blu-ray of this. First time watching something off of Kanopy.

I really liked Clara Bow’s tomboyish Mary character a lot, and seeing her in (and briefly out of) that flapper outfit in Paris wasn’t too bad either.

While the dogfights are really spectacular, I was equally impressed with the massive ground battle scenes, especially when filmed from above. Some of the stunt work, like the bombs dropping on the small village and resulting explosions, and the plane crash into the house, were jaw dropping regardless of when they were filmed, but even more so considering this was 1927!

I’m going to have to rewatch this in the home theater at some point. Maybe after I buy the Blu-ray.
