Viewing Notes

The action scenes are great in this odd blend of Western and Eastern action set in Indonesia in the 1860s during the Dutch colonial days. Mostly familiar plot dealing with revenge against the foreign occupiers but set in a gorgeously shot Indonesia. They go to great lengths to ensure the bad guys are pretty despicable which makes it so much more enjoyable when the final act roles around.

Lots of familiar faces from plenty of other great Indonesian action and horror films in the cast. I was disappointed that Happy Salma’s character didn’t get more action scenes. They really set it up for that to happen and then didn’t fully deliver.
