Viewing Notes

At times compelling and touching, at others opaque and languid, this tale of toxic masculinity (albeit non-violent for once), deep hurt and the ability, or lack thereof, to forgive felt overlong and confounding at times.

I really enjoyed the first third of the movie and the very end, but the middle third or so, while it had it’s moments, felt out of sorts.

It was interesting to see a non-genre Chinese film with more common, down-to-earth locations and characters.
