Reporter Goro Maki stumbles upon scientists conducting weather experiments on Sollgel Island in the South Seas. Viewing Notes

Akira Kubo as the reporter Maki, and the stunningly beautiful Beverly Maeda as the stranded archeologist’s daughter Saeko, make a great couple in this decidedly family oriented Godzilla outing that features very little of the big guy himself.

The initial scenes of Godzilla’s son hatching and writhing around are comically bad, but he gets a little better once he’s up and walking as a guy (child?) in a suit. Still, it’s mostly awkward.

The giant spider and mantises are also awkward since they’re puppets controlled from above and move around weirdly. I did like the mantises jumping/flying attacks but yeah, mostly goofy stuff here and my least favorite Godzilla film for obvious reasons.
